Aussie songbird and dance-pop queen Kylie Minogue is another star whose profile I wish would rise in the United State. Certainly she’s known in the US, but she’s not nearly as famous here as she is throughout Europe and her native Australia, where she’s something of a Madonna-like figure. She tends to wear and carry interesting things, in addition to being quite talented, and she’d be a fine addition to the American pop culture landscape.

Lately, I’ve seen lots of pictures of Minogue carrying one bag in particular: her black Yves Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc Tote. This design was hailed as a future It Bag when it debuted, and although it hasn’t reached quite those heights, I can certainly understand why it’s become reasonably popular; it’s recognizable but not obnoxiously logo’d, it’s a roomy and functional shape and it’s the kind of bag you can carry for seasons on end without worrying over appropriateness. For a pop star dashing all over the world, those certainly have to be convenient attributes when packing accessories.
