I can’t help but think that Bethenny Frankel is something of a marketing genius, especially when I look at paparazzi photos of budding mogul. Not only did she find a huge hole in liquor marketing in the US, but she seems particularly adept at being exactly the person that her fans and customers need her to be. How much of that is her and how much is carefully planned is up to discussion, but either way, she’s really good at what she does.

When you see her, she always looks nice and well put-together. She’s not afraid to wear color like most people are, and often completely eschews black, which helps lighten up what most Real Housewives fans will remember as a slightly caustic, if hilarious, persona.

She looks cheery and bright without being too trendy or name-brand, and usually the only obviously designer piece that she’s wearing is one of her beloved Hermes Birkins. It’s like she’s tailor-made to be visually appealing to the women who might watch her talk show or buy her reduced-calorie cocktails, which is very savvy. And make no mistake: none of this is meant as criticism. I think Bethenny’s a really smart businesswoman, and being an appealing face for her brand is a huge component of her success.
